Play areas to get a makeover

Play areas to get a makeover

Last Updated on March 29, 2022

Work will soon get underway to refurbish nine play areas in the next phase of a major redevelopment programme run by Bicester Town Council.

The council has ear-marked £320,000 of funds in this year’s budget to bring play areas across the town up to scratch.

Play areas in Oxlip Leys, Coltsfoot Leys, Gentian Close, Market End Way Banbury Road, Bisley Close, Keble Road are the next on the list to be refurbished.

Work will be wide-ranging and will include repairing, painting or replacing damaged equipment, fixing flooring and general sprucing up of the play area.

Further, the park in Dunlin Court will have its multi-play activity replaced and there will be a new play item added to the park in Woodpecker Close.

Work is due to start in May.

The work is part of a five-year commitment by the town council to improve Bicester play areas.

Town Clerk Phil Evans said: “We are delighted to announce that a further nine play areas have be added to the refurbishment programme. Work will start in May and we hope all the planned improvements will be completed this summer.

“This latest tranche of work is part of a town wide initiative by the town council to overhaul all the play areas to ensure young people can enjoy lots of fun outside in the fresh air.”
