Sea of Santas

Sea of Santas

Last Updated on July 23, 2020

HUNDREDS of people took to the streets of Bicester dressed as Santa Claus for the annual Christmas run.

About 500 people took part in the run on Sunday, December 15, which was organised by Bicester Town Council.

Runners, including the Deputy Mayor Nick Mawer, raced around the 4k route which took in Pingle Drive, Oxford Road, North Street, Sheep Street, Market Square, Manorsfield Road, St John’s Street, Queens Avenue, Kings End, Church Lane, Old Place Yard and finished in Pingle field.

All runners were presented with a medal, hot drink and bacon roll.

First place went to Edward Jolliffe, in second place was Richard Gould and third place went to Ollie Gore.

Mayor Jason Slaymaker said: “It was fantastic to see all the sea of Santas running across Pingle field. “It was great to see so many people come out either to run and cheer the runners on.  “Well done to everyone who took part. Our thanks must also go to Evolve Health and Fitness who kindly sponsored the event for the fifth year running.”

Money raised from the day will go to the Mayor’s charities, OYAP Trust, Nai’s House, Bicester Fire Cadets and Alexandra House of Joy.
