Please see the below notification from Highways England.
During our comprehensive scheme of work on the A43, we will repair and replace damaged drains, partially reconstruct the carriageway, renew any damaged kerbs, refresh road markings and install road studs.
Once completed, all road users will benefit from improved road safety and a smoother driving experience.
When will the work take place?
We will be delivering four schemes of work sequentially from early June 2020 to December 2020 in the following order:
1) A43/M40 Ardley Roundabout
Work is due to be completed over June 2020, when we will work:
• between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday (week night closures)
• from 8pm Friday until 6am Monday (full weekend closure during one weekend)
2)& 3) A43 Northbound RAF Croughton and Barley Mow Roundabout and A43 Southbound at Tusmore (combined build)
Work is due to take place over August 2020 when we will work:
• between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday (week night closures)
• from 8pm Friday until 6am Monday (full weekend closures for 3 weekends)
4) A43 Southbound A413 to Whitfield and Abthorpe Roundabout
Work is due to take place in September 2020 and is scheduled for completion in December 2020, we will work:
• between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday (week night closures)
To minimise disruption to motorists we are packaging together other essential roadwork schemes which can run concurrently within our closures to avoid further unnecessary disruption to motorists to ensure we are working as collaboratively as possible.
These works include:
• the installation of new sign plates supporting emergency diversion routes. This will ensure that the correct diversion route signing is in place and will aid the travel and safety of road users when an emergency or unplanned road closure is needed
• minor improvement works at the Abthorpe roundabout
• offering litter picking opportunities to the local authority
• other general maintenance works including gully cleaning and grass cutting.
Please note that all our planned works are subject to change due to weather conditions, significant events or unforeseen circumstances.
How will the work affect traffic?
To maintain a safe environment for our workforce and motorists, we will need to use a mixture of full weekend closures, overnight lane and full carriageway closures while we work. To minimise inconvenience and disruption to road users we will close the roads in phases. During full road closures we will put in place fully signed diversion routes which have been agreed with the Local Authority and UK Highways Ltd.
If you would like further information regarding the different phases, please contact us so we can explain them in greater detail.
How will the work affect businesses and residents?
We will make sure that access to businesses and residences is maintained wherever possible.
To ensure we keep residents and businesses up to date with the latest closure details we will issue regular bulletins and information. We will also have a dedicated Public Liaison Officer on hand to answer any questions.
Maintaining safety during Covid-19
We are working hard to maintain the road network and are prioritising critical operational activities. This will help ensure that life-saving medicine, equipment, supplies and healthcare staff can travel to where they’re needed most.
All our sites have strict safeguarding measures, in line with Public Health England guidance, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and none of our sites are open to the public. All construction projects are closely monitored, and the situation is kept under constant review.
