Oxfordshire County Council will be undertaking carriageway maintenance work on the A4095 Southwold Lane in Bicester between Heather Road and Banbury Road.
The works are programmed for 1st to 6th June 2020 during the night, subject to any bad weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances during construction.
The works will include resurfacing of the existing carriageway and replenishing the road markings. There will be some preparation works including repairs to kerbs, signs and drainage prior to the resurfacing using traffic lights during the day.
Traffic Management
In order to keep traffic disruption to a minimum, the works will be carried out under night-time road closures from 19:30-06:00hrs. The work is programmed so that the noisier activities will be completed by 00.00hrs, however noise associated to construction activities should be expect for the works duration. Signed diversion routes will be put in place.
Gatemen / Traffic Marshals will be positioned at either end of the site to redirect traffic and pedestrians to ensure the safety of the public and workforce during the road closure. We ask that you give them your full support and heed their advice whether you are a pedestrian, cyclist or motorist. We ask that during this time every effort is made park all vehicles off the carriageway.
Every effort will be made to accommodate essential vehicular access to properties and businesses adjacent to the works area but this will be subject to progress of the works. Individual requirements will have to be agreed with the scheme supervisor, Tim Belton, once works have started on site (contact details overleaf).
Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Compliance with Government Advice
Where road and transport services are concerned, the government has stated that any work that can be done safely and within Public Health England guidance can continue.
We are continuing to carry out essential repairs to the network to ensure that roads remain operational, safe, and serviceable for those still requiring to undertake essential travel; including residents who are dependent on receiving deliveries, and to prevent the deterioration to the road’s condition that would otherwise take place.
An assessment of each location has been completed to ensure that the works can be undertaken in accordance with specially enhanced safe working practices.
All our contractors are ensuring that working practices relevant to government guidance can be adhered to.
If you see anyone working on the roads, they are performing a vital service. Please observe social distancing rules.
