Halloween update from Caversfield Parish Council

Halloween update from Caversfield Parish Council

Last Updated on October 21, 2020

For many years, Halloween in Caversfield has been a popular, informal, fun time which the Caversfield villagers have embraced and adopted from our US residents. This year, due to the COVID19 restrictions, the US residents have already agreed that they will NOT be taking any part in trick or treating or socialising outside of the current government guidelines and will definitely not be giving out food or sweets.

Of course, there is nothing to stop villagers decorating their houses, but for the protection of public health, there will not be the usual support from the US service personnel. The traffic management which has been in place for the last couple of years will also not be available this year and so visits from outside the village to come and look are being discouraged.

Many areas will be doing their own pumpkin hunts and we’re sure that Caversfield will be no exception, but to keep everyone safe, it would be better to stay in your own area and keep it local!

We very much hope that ‘normal service’ will be resumed next year!Your Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out patrols in the evenings to make sure people who are pumpkin hunting are doing so in a friendly manner and not causing a nuisance.

To report anti-social behaviour contact the Thames Valley Police 24 hour non-emergency number 101.In an emergency dial 999. We hope you have a spooktacular time!

Instead of trick or treating this year, if you would like to take part in the Big Neighbourhood Pumpkin Trail, there is a national Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/695682491244696/
