Bicester’s groups, organisations and charities are being urged to apply for a slice of funding from Bicester Town Council’s annual Grant Aid Scheme.
The long-running initiative gives local organsiations an opportunity to apply for funds of up to £500, and in some cases £1,000.
Grants are available for projects from constituted community, voluntary and charitable groups who provide a service which benefits Bicester residents.
This year’s scheme opened on Monday <<February 7>> and the deadline to submit applications is Friday, March 11, with decisions made by the end of April.
It is hoped cheques will be presented to groups at a face-to-face ceremony as part of the Mayor-making celebration in May.
Among those groups to benefit from last year’s grant funding was Bicester Rugby Union Football Club which received £1000 for the Access to Rugby fund; ARCh – Assisted Reading for Children was given £720 for duplicate materials for distanced workshops; Bicester Good Neighbour Scheme received £1000 for online volunteer training; Clean Slate got £625 for volunteer mental health counsellor training; Cygnets preschool received £500 for waterproof overalls; 1st Southwold Scouts received £500 for outdoor activity equipment, One Bicester got £1,000 to help stage the Virtual Bicester’s Big Lunch and Big Lunch 2022 and Bardwell School was given £500 towards a play area.
Council leader Cllr Richard Mould said: “The Grant Aid Scheme is a Bicester Town Council initiative that enables us to give something back to the hard-working groups and charities operating in the town.
“If you have a project that you need financial help with, I would urge you to apply for funding. We usually give grants up to £500 but in some cases funding can be up to £1,000.
“We recognise how difficult the past few years have been for our many of our volunteer groups and charities and hope this scheme will go some way to help support current and future projects.”
