Bicester Food Festival, due to take place in Sheep Street this weekend, has been postponed until 2022.
It comes after Bicester Town Council’s environment committee met Monday night and agreed to cancel this year’s event due to low numbers of traders taking part.
Bicester plays host to the launch of the Women’s Tour, a staged cycle race, on Monday, October 4, and the food festival was due to take place the day before on Sunday, October 3.
The council say there was still a strong appetite to stage a food festival which would be a chance to showcase the town’s food traders and artisan producers, and a new date for 2022 would be announced soon.
Council leader Cllr Richard Mould said: “While we are disappointed to postpone this event, it was right that we did. We are now working towards launching this brand new event for 2022 and hope to reach out to the local food community in the coming months to help us make it a success.”
