Bicester Town Council Announces Full-Day Celebration for the 80th Anniversary of VE Day

Bicester Town Council Announces Full-Day Celebration for the 80th Anniversary of VE Day

Last Updated on April 22, 2025

Bicester Town Council is proud to announce a special all-day event to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day on Thursday 8th May 2025. This momentous occasion marks eight decades since the end of World War II in Europe, and the council is inviting residents to come together to honour this historic milestone.

Taking place at Garth Park, the event will feature a range of activities suitable for all ages, including live performances, military displays, and a moving Reflection and Prayer from Reverend Peter.

A highlight of the celebration will be a formal commemoration ceremony, where local veterans, dignitaries, and community leaders will gather to pay tribute to those who served.

Bicester Town Council is very honoured to host this event and provide an opportunity for our community to reflect on the sacrifices made for our freedom. VE Day is a time for remembrance and unity, and we look forward to marking this significant anniversary with a day full of celebration and reflection.

The council invites everyone to take part in this historic event and encourages schools to bring paintings inspired by Victory in Europe Day. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their creativity while honouring this historic occasion. The Mayor will have the honour of selecting the winning artwork, celebrating the talent and remembrance displayed in each piece.

This event is free to attend, and further details, including a full schedule of activities, will be announced in the coming weeks.
