We join our twin town in the Vendee Bocage Les Essarts in celebrating Bastille Day when traditionally they all come together for a day of celebration with a Parade led by the Fire Service to a service in front of the church in Les Essarts. The celebrations this year are somewhat muted because of the Covid 19 pandemic, and we have been unable to send our usual delegation form Bicester and District Twinning Association led by the Mayor and other members. This is a great day for the French and would see a day of celebration leading to a massive fireworks display in front of the castle.
The town of Les Essarts is one of five towns making up the Bocage and is situated in a beautiful area of France and is some 50 kilometres form the fabulous beaches of the Vendee.
Bicester Town Council leader Cllr Richard Mould said ”We wish them a very happy and successful Bastille Day and look forward to being part of the celebrations in 2021.”
