Your local councillor is elected by the residents to represent them on the Town Council. They are representatives of the major political parties, or are independent. They are not full time paid officials, and are only given a very small annual allowance. Their position is one of influence rather than power at Town Council level. However, they have very important role in representing the views of the local residents about just about everything that goes on in our town.
