Just a reminder…..tonight’s Planning Committee meeting starts at 7.30pm, not the usual 7.00pm.
Great news…….Planning permission has been granted for the new café and public toilets to be built in Garth Park. So it’s all systems go to get it up and ready to open next Easter! See you there for a coffee…..
Looking for something to do on Saturday August 8th? Bicester’s first Folk Festival is in Garth Park with free entry in the afternoon for live performances from 1.00pm to 5.00pm. Then in the evening, just £10 will get to access to the evening’s extravaganza, headlined by Mad Dog Mcrea.
Lots of other good stuff too, including arts and crafts, drumming workshops, lots of eats and drinks……….
Well, what a great day. Garth Park was once again full to the brim with families enjoying the many activities on offer. A record breaking number of entrants in the Best Dressed Teddy Competition too! From face painting, dancing, dressing up, train rides, climbing wall, zorbs, mini karts, cycling, and lots and lots of games and other fun stuff. Thank you all for coming and I hope you enjoyed it.
We are pleased to announce that we have chosen the team that will provide the new facilities in Garth Park and run them. The New Factory will build it and Savoir Fare will run it. It is all subject to the usual planning consents, but we hope that we will be able to launch the new facilities in the Spring next year (2016), So this time next year you could be sitting on the decking, sipping a lovely coffee, eating a sandwich made from bread baked on the premises and watch your young ones play in the new natural playground opposite. And have a decent loo to use afterwards!

Bicester Town Council and Cherwell District Council have jointly agreed to fund an additional two cuts to the Oxfordshire County Council owned grass verges. at a total cost of £12,000. We are assured that OCC will undertake the first cut in the very near future, which will then be enhanced by three further cuts (one by OCC and the two previously mentioned) before the growing season comes to an end.
I am pleased to announce that we have been successful with our application for funding towards redeveloping the play area in Garth Park. We will now be working on a design and you will see the improvements to the play area take shape during the autumn and winter this year.
Monday April 20th…….we have a problem with our telephone lines, calls are not getting through. BT are on the case. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
Sorry for any inconvenience. Email in if you can, otherwise, keep trying the phone lines.
Unfortunately the Oxfordshire County Officers that were going to address the meeting on the SE Link Road have had to cancel. They will now present to Council after the elections.
Things are still moving along nicely with regard to BTC’s plans for Garth Park. We are currently getting our funding in place to start the refurbishment of the play area, and we have shortlisted two companies to provide the café and public toilet facility. A decision should be made in May as to who the successful provider will be. Hopefully we will see something happening on the ground in the late summer/autumn this year. Keep watching!
