This is a new annual event being organised by Cherwell District Council which will take place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th June 2018.
Saturday 16th June
Events will take place in Market Square, Sheep Street, Old Place Yard and the OYAP StudiO2 (on the former St Edburg’s School site). You can look forward to local performing arts groups, the family theatre Squashbox and interactive shows from Zest Theatre* on the Market Square stage from 12pm finishing with Reggae on the Rocks at 7.15pm.
Sheep street will have a market, provided by OneBicester, exhibitions and workshops in the Methodist Church Hall as well as street performances including Rogue Play aerialists and Rimski’s Piano Bassicale. Rogue Play will also be conducting a one-hour aerialist workshop*. Old Place Yard will have a tented participatory theatre performance, Le Flea*, as well as artwork all around the old dovecote and an opportunity to learn and share more about Bicester’s history and heritage. Both areas will have activities from 10am until 4pm
In readiness for the finale event on the Sunday, OYAP will be running free kite-making workshops as well as dream-catcher workshops* and exhibitions throughout the day.
Sunday 17th June
The festival culminates at Whitelands Farm playing fields with a professional kite flying team demonstration and community kite fly event. You are invited to bring along a picnic and a kite to join in. Rimski’s Piano and Bassicle will be touring the fields and Bicester Concert Band will play out the festival from about 2.30pm.
*Pre-booking for ticketed events will be available onsite on the day
Come and join us for our annual Bicester Town Carnival in association with Armed Forces Day.
The procession starts the event at 12noon from the top of Sheep Street near the Methodist Church and parades through the town to Pingle Field where the Mayor gives her awards.
With lots to do, arena activities, circus workshop, fair and stalls we look forward to seeing you there.
Entry is £5 for adults, £3 for under 16’s with under 5’s being free of charge (50% discount for Armed Forces personel with valid military ID)
The Waterloo Band & Bugles of the 7th Battalion Rifles will be performing in aid of SSAFA (the Armed Forces charity) & SOFO (Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum).
Gates open at 6pm for a 7pm start
Tickets: Adults £12.50, Under 16s, £6 and Under 5’s are free
