It's official… Bicester is bloomin' lovely! The Town has won the 'Large Town' award in the annual Thames and Chiltern Britain in Bloom competition.
At the awards presentation held on Monday 28th September, Bicester was named 'LargeTown' and presented with a Gold Award by the Royal Horticultural Society at Newbury Town Hall. To add to this fantastic achievement Bicester has been nominated to take part in the 2010 National Britain in Bloom Competition which will be the 2nd time in three years.
Councilor Richard Mould Chairman of the Bicester in Bloom Working Party said “This is a tremendous achievement and a great credit to our staff at the Town Council. Our thanks go to all those involved in this years competition”
Thames and Chiltern in Bloom is the regional competition held each year. It is promoted and organised by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). Bicester entered in to the ‘Large Town’ category.
During July two judges toured the Town to assess the quality of planting, design and maintenance of our formal gardens and floral displays as well as our work in improving the local environment.
A Bicester in Bloom committee consisting of Bicester Town Council officers, community group representatives, local organisations and partners meet regularly to discuss progress and ideas for the local entry. This group is chaired by Councilor Richard Mould.
